Template:Slim scripture quote

Usage

Use {{Slim scripture quote}} to display a compact, unobtrusive scripture quote. This template is intended for quotes with less "punch" where the larger {{Scripture quote}} template would be too prominent.

This template may be used for both prose and verse quotations. For regular prose passages, omit the |type parameter. For verse, hymns, poetry, etc., set |type=verse.

Parameters

|text

The quoted text. This parameter is required.

|source

The visible source line displayed beneath the quotation. This parameter is optional.

|note

An optional note displayed immediately below the source line with the same formatting. Not preceded by an em dash.

|type

The quote type. Use |type=verse for verse, hymns, or poetic quotes. If omitted, the template displays the quote as prose.

Notes

Use {{Slim scripture quote}} when a quote should be visually distinct but not too distracting and showy. Use {{Scripture quote}} for quotes that should receive stronger visual emphasis. For prose passages, do not use |type=verse unless the original line-breaks are meaningful.

If the quoted text contains a vertical bar character, use {{!}} in place of the bar so the template does not misread it as a parameter divider.
