Grigoripedia:Templates

Templates are reusable pieces of wiki markup language used to format pages, display important notices, create navigation links, and automatically organize articles for maintenance purposes.

Templates are stored in the Template: namespace, and they can be added to pages by placing the template name inside double braces. For example:

Templates keep Grigoripedia consistent and professional by allowing the same message, layout, or formatting style to be reused on any page. They also make page creation and upkeep much easier.

Common templates

Notice templates

These templates display important notices on an article. They should usually not be removed.

Article notice templates include:

{{Content warning}} — displays a notice that the content of the following article or subsection is mature or controversial.

Navigation templates

Navigation (nav) templates help readers move between related pages.

{{Main}} — links to the main article for a topic that has a section in another article.
{{See also}} — links to related articles.
{{Distinguish}} — notes that an article should not be confused with another topic.

Work templates

Work templates identify pages that need editing, expansion, cleanup, sourcing, or other maintenance work.

Regular work templates include:

Page element work templates include:

{{Needs infobox}}

Serious issue work templates include:

Creating templates

To create a new template, make a new page in the Template: namespace. For example:

A template can then be used on another page with:

{{Example}}

Template notes or documentation should usually be placed inside <noinclude> tags so that the documentation appears only on the template page itself. If this is omitted, it will appear everywhere the template is used.

Categories that should apply to all pages using the template should usually be placed inside <includeonly> tags.

Template documentation

Basic template documentation should at least explain:

what the template does;
where it should be used;
what category or categories it adds, if any;
any parameters the template accepts.
